Kurt Manufacturing announces expansion, plans to triple workforce at its Pueblo Facility
Pueblo, Colorado, December 9, 2013 Kurt Manufacturing, an employee owned leader in contract manufacturing and proprietary products, announced plans to expand operations in its facility located in Pueblo, Colorado today. Kurt is a large, multi-divisional manufacturing company headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The company will be adding jobs and equipment to meet capacity for their growing Hydraulics Division. This expansion will add 59 jobs to the Pueblo area.
Kurt first came to Pueblo in 1987 when they set up a precision machining operation. They currently operate several facilities in three states. The expansion will include positions in Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Machining, Inspection, Shipping and Administration.
After weighing several options to increase capacity in support of their growing Kurt Hydraulics business, Kurt selected Pueblo. “Our existing relationships with the community for 26 years and the available skilled workforce made Pueblo the clear choice”, said Steve Carlsen, President and CEO. “Pueblo has everything we are looking for in our expansion plans and the Community College is an amazing asset to help train our employees. We have also been impressed with the ability of the community to respond to a variety of our expansion needs. We look forward to a long and successful future in Pueblo,” Carlsen added.
PEDCO Chairman of the Board, Sam Krage noted that with this announcement PEDCO has made five announcements so far this year. ”PEDCO has seen an increase in activity this year which hopefully signals that the worst of the recession is over” Krage said. “The best type of announcement we can have is one that helps expand local companies that are here producing products and creating jobs”, Krage added.
The company plans on renovating a portion of its current facility at the Airport Industrial Park to meet its new capacity requirements. Those efforts are scheduled to start in Q1 of 2014.
